Patrick Dempsey is inspired by her mother who is a three time Ovarian Cancer survivor by opening up his Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing on March 31. He has donated $250,000 (£125,000) from his pocket to fund the center at the Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
He will cut the ribbon on March 31 and by that time, Patrick says he should have completely stopped smoking already. He says: “The thought of smoking now is absolutely ridiculous and I think more people have to quit smoking. There was a defining moment (for me); I remember being outside and I took a puff and I was like, ‘You know what, it doesn’t taste good anymore to me. This is not what I want to do, and it stopped.”
