Hilary Duff attended acting classes early in her life and by the age of six she was already cast in a ballet production -- The Nutcracker Suite. She moved to California with sister Haylie and her mother for bigger and better entertainment opportunities.
Success did not come right away for Hilary Duff as she persevered auditions for years until she landed minor roles in True Women (1997) and Playing By Heart (1998).
Casper Meets Wendy
After years of auditioning and small roles, Hilary Duff finally got signed to her first major role in Casper Meets Wendy in 1999. The young Hilary played the role of the witch alongside Casper.
TV Role Award
After Hilary's role in Casper, she was cast in the television film The Soul Collector (1999) which eventually led to winning the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot (Supporting Young Actress).
Early disappointment
Hilary Duff was chosen as one of the children in NBC's pilot episode Daddio (2000) which could have been her biggest stepping stone to fame; unfortunately, she was dropped from the lineup before the show aired.
Lizzie McGuire
She almost left acting after a big disappointment in Daddio; fortunately, she was chosen in Lizzie McGuire as a clumsy average high school girl. The show which was all about Hilary's teenhood journey became a huge success drawing 2.3 million viewers per episode.
Hilary Duff's acting skills were honed through the 65 episodes of the show. After that, a movie -- The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003) was produced which cemented her place in Hollywood.
Music
Hilary Duff's first recording include I Can't Wait for the television soundtrack of Lizzie McGuire in 2002 and The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room for the first compilation album Disneymania.
Hilary's first album was Santa Claus Lane (2002) with hit singles Tell Me a Story. The title soundtrack of the album was included in The Santa Clause 2.
The second album of Hilary Duff was titled Metamorphosis (2003) which became one of the best selling albums for that year and with sales now reaching over 3.7 million copies. Her songs for that album reached number one on US and Canadian charts.
The second Disneymania disc was then released in 2004 (January) which contained songs such as The Siamese Cat Song and Circle of Life.
Hilary Duff's third album titled -- Hilary Duff was released on September 2004 and debuted number one is Canadian charts and number two in US. The song failed to surpass Metamorphosis but was still able to sell 1.5 million copies.
The fourth album of Hilary Duff was titled Most Wanted (2005) which was her third number one song at Canadian charts. To date, it has sold over 1.3 million copies.
The latest album of Hilary Duff is titled Dignity which was released on April 3, 2007. The album is climbing in the charts but nowhere near the success of Metamorphosis.
