Katherine Heigl has signed up to star as a perennial bridesmaid in 27 Dresses, a romantic comedy from The Devil Wears Prada scribe Aline Brosh McKenna.

The star will play a lovely young lady who gives new meaning to the saying "always a bridesmaid, never a bride," having donned the lesser gown 27 times without ever getting her own chance to wear white. Meanwhile, her 28th fruitless trip down the aisle promises to be the toughest of all, considering this time the bride is her sister and she's set to marry the man who Heigl is madly in love with (ENews).

Filming will start this May. By then. Katherine will be exchanging scrubs to dresses.
