Grey's Anatomy is currently in its third season, has routinely topped the Nielsen ratings, and just few weeks back averaged 26 million viewers.

It is not then surprising for ABC to attempt duplicating the massive success the network has enjoyed by moving forward on a spin-off centering on Kate Walsh's character of Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd.

Everything about this new series is yet untold - - the hows, whys and to wheres of the moves are still unknown. But Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Walsh and Grey’s Anatomy, would not have to juggle giving Walsh plenty of screen time among other characters. As it is, story lines and screen time in Grey’s Anatomy are divided up among 12 regular characters, something that is really difficult to allow everyone to be the most popular character on the show.

Whether Walsh’s character will remain in Seattle, move back to New York or do something else entirely is still undecided. But the fans though are decided to look forward to something big.
