I think I’ll review this episode by discussing each of the four main characters. Let’s start with Mia Mason who is played by Lucy Liu (Ally McBeal, Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill). Mia gets engaged in the very beginning of the episode only to find that she must compete against her fiance for an important job. She, of course, wins the promotion using some sneaky tactics to land clients and her fiance Jack calls it off. Her story was a little predictable but Lucy Liu is great.

Mostly, I think I want more interesting, quirky, accessible characters. The stories that CM has come up with for these women (who could potentially be very compelling) are shallow and contrived at times. More on this after the jump.

Let’s talk about the stories that don’t quite work first. I should rephrase that. These stories work, they’re just work too well which makes them predictable.

Mia: Firstly, her hairstyles are out of control. Okay, now I can move on. I kind of like the storyline with the “manny.” It is bit disappointing that Mia is not as into her boyfriend as she was last week though. Then again, you knew it wasn’t going to work with the perfect brain surgeon for long (although I wouldn’t mind hearing them speak in Chinese to each other again).

Episode 6 of Cashmere Mafia is said to be the best episode so far. Mia and Caitlin looks for the revealed sex tape Mia made with Jack in his apartment. Caitlin is getting pscyhed up for being a mother but Alicia stuns her by revealing how she wants to raise the baby. Zoe is fighting to get a new billionaire client. The divorce battle for property ownership heats up between Juliet and Davis.
