Biography
Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas. Both her parents are of African-American descent -- Mathew Knowles and Tina Beyince. Her parents decided on her first name as a tribute to her mother's surname. By age seven, she was attending dance school and was a soloist in her church choir which eventually led to Beyonce winning local singing and dancing competitions.
